Therese Hume, Strategic Partner Director

What attracted you to Oncam?
At the time, I was looking for a career change and came across an opportunity to join Oncam when they had just started and I haven’t looked back since – this was 11 years ago. When I first saw Oncam’s 360 technology (and we are talking analogue 360) I was completely blown away. It felt very exciting to be joining such an incredibly innovative company and what a journey it has been since.

What do you like about working here?
There are many things but to name the top two, it would be the people and the technology. We have an amazing culture across the globe and, in my opinion, Oncam really is one of the best companies to work for. The drive, passion and team spirit is like nothing I have ever encountered before. We truly are ONE TEAM.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
Every day is very different from the next to be honest, and that’s a good thing in my opinion – keeps me on my toes and each day is a continuous learning curve. I have worked across multiple departments within the company, and I guess the common thread and what I really enjoy is the people aspect and building trusted relationships within and outside of the company, which is the main day-to-day aspect of the role I have now. At the end of 2019, I moved my whole family from leafy Hertfordshire in the UK, to an even leafier New Jersey in the US, and that was a big change for me – from commuting across London to working full-time from home. But because we are such a tightknit team, it doesn’t really matter where in the world you are, the supportive and collaborative aspect will always be there no matter what.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m originally from Sweden, but have lived in the UK and US for the past 17 years. Back in the day, I was a pretty decent football (or soccer as it’s called in the US!) player and it is definitely still a passion for me – anyone who knows me can tell you I’m pretty competitive as well!

Konstantina Giannopoulou-Belitsi, Supply Chain Planner

What attracted you to Oncam?
I was in the process of completing my master’s degree when I came across the opportunity at Oncam. The company’s mission statement and ethical practices regarding logistical sustainability really resonated with my personal core values. Joining the company, I was and still am thrilled by the opportunities to work with the team on challenging new projects as well as the opportunity to learn from such an inspirational leadership team.

What do you like about working here?
There are a lot of things that I really enjoy about working at Oncam, but I will only name the top three. Those would be the people, the integrity of the company, and the technology itself. I get to work daily with, and more importantly learn from, individuals who have enormous experience in the industry.

What’s a typical day like in your role?

Typical? I am not familiar with the term. Joking aside, working in a fast-paced environment, no two days are the same. And that’s a great thing in my opinion because you learn how to navigate different challenges every day. My day can range from talking to suppliers, working closely with the Sales Ops, making sure that the stock levels are sufficient, and scheduling shipments around the globe, and that’s only my Mondays!

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?

I have always loved cycling. I joined my local cycling team (PAOK), when I was only 8 years old. I loved competing around Greece and getting to meet other children my age who shared the same passion as me. I even placed 3rd in the Hellenic Cyclist Championship at one point. I had to stop after 10 years to focus on my studies, but I still consider cycling a passion of mine and like to explore the city on my bike in my free time.

Chris Colebrook, Director of Customer Experience

What attracted you to Oncam?

I was attracted to Oncam because it was an expanding company with opportunity to grow personally with that expansion. It was also an opportunity for me to apply all of my experience to help with that growth and build a team to ensure our customers continue to get excellent service and support.

What do you like about working here?

It might be a cliché, but the people are definitely one of the best things about working here. Nobody in the business is too busy to help out when needed and that made a massive difference to me in my first few months.

Another great thing about the company is being able to get involved and make a difference in lots of different areas of the business.

What’s a typical day like in your role?

As my teams support all 3 ONVU Tech brands the support side of things can vary a lot. I’m also involved in other areas of the business so there isn’t really a typical day. On any given day I could be talking to my teams about customer support issues one minute and the strategy of a product the next.

As I manage our testing facility, I could also be talking to our Engineering and Development teams about their requirements or address any issues or changes that are needed. It’s really important that the business has the right tools to test and evaluate new product features and that support have the right tools to evaluate customer issues. I am also involved in the release meetings for both hardware and software and the review of new products and packaging.

I’m also involved in recruiting for both my own team and for other teams across the business. Getting the right people on board is vitally important and as a result, we take recruitment very seriously.

All in all, it’s a busy and varied role which always keeps me on my toes. I’m privileged though to lead a dedicated and knowledgeable team which is able to deliver superb customer support as well as vital services to the business.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?

People probably don’t know that I’m a qualified climbing instructor and I’ve summited the highest mountains in both North and South America (Denali and Aconcagua).

In my younger (and fitter!) days, I also held a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and brown belts in Karate and Kick Boxing.

Shaleen Patel, HR Business Partner

It’s amazing to be a part of a global technology company that is evolving and building innovative products. I have been given an opportunity to work with such a passionate team that inspire me to learn and grow, whilst also maintaining a work-life balance.

What do you like about working here?
It’s the people that make Oncam. The team are so driven and focused and this helps us to achieve together, as one team.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
Everyday brings a new challenge. It can vary from providing support to the Senior Management team, to working strategically alongside the VP of HR and leading on key HR projects. In addition I also look after employee relations, performance management, talent management, onboarding and HR policies and procedures.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
As someone who enjoys giving back to society, I went to the extreme of Skydiving for charity, despite my fear of heights.

Johnpaul Patrick-Onuh, Senior Embedded Video Software Engineer

What attracted you to Oncam?
When I read about Oncam’s pioneering spirit in the video security industry and also its reputation of being very innovative – the attraction was immediate. In addition I liked the fact that it is a global company with an office in the heart of London.

What do you like about working here?
I like working in Oncam, because there is always work to be done and problems to be solved (I have always liked a good challenge). My colleagues are also easy going people which makes for a stress free work environment; the best kind of environment that increases productivity.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
My day always begins with a meeting with my colleagues to plan for the day ahead and then a few other meetings with third party vendors we work with. I then move on to working on my sprint which normally includes tasks in the software development circle of our new product.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I love classical music and old movies – 50s and older.
